The kids and I love to bake so following recipes is something they are very used to. Creating recipes is another matter … I am a very literal, follow the recipe to the letter kind of baker, so don’t tend to go leftfield with ideas for cake making. Ava, however, has taken her recipe making to a whole new level … if you didn’t think you needed to know before, you now have the ultimate recipe and very detailed instructions for making Fairy Dust. A necessity (apparently!) for sprinkling on fallen teeth before they are tucked under your pillow.
the summer that has been and gone was a very happy one … mainly here in the gorgeous summery weather with a week in France right at the end. This year was about all about being outside and discovering new parts of London (have you ever been to the park in Holland Park before? … beautiful), the Barbican’s amazing Dalston House installation, meeting dinosaurs at Regent’s Park theatre, Science Museum spinning, catching up with cousins, spending time with friends I’ve not seen for ages, kite flying, zoo visiting, paddling pool splashes, Serpentine Gallery pavilion climbing and me being in Edinburgh at the Festival for a whole week on my own …rediscovering the city I loved so much as a student. happy days
I am rather shamefully coming back to the blog a number of months since I left it … I’m not sure what happened but life seemed to take over blog writing, that and busy times with Scamp after the Trade Show we took part in in May. No great excuses but the longer I left it the harder it seemed to go back to writing something again. So … I’m back, probably not with a picture a day but there will be a number of pictures over time with the usual mix of things I like, things the kids like, things that Scamp likes and therefore things I hope you like too!
Oh, and the bunting, that was my birthday celebration a couple of weeks ago … a tea party in our local park bandstand with friends and their kids devouring scones, chocolate brownies and cups of tea and dressing up
from the dress up Photo Booth!
Jonah was given a butterfly ‘kit‘ for his birthday which involved receiving five teeny tiny caterpillars through the post. They arrived in their tub of food which remains their home until they go into their chrysalises. Starting on day one at less than a centimetre these insects sure know how to eat and grow. About 10 times the size that they started as they are fairly piling on the grams before they head into the world of butterflyness.
those magnificent men in their flying machines … a day dedicated to all things flying at the Abingdon Airshow. There’s only so much loop the looping of aeroplanes that holds my interest (however skilful) but ladies atop these little beauties doing acrobatics … that’s another matter. Impressed!
coming into summer nights means evenings in the park and a little bit of glorious sunshine – hooray
